Usually there is a form involved: an application portal that accepts .png only, a print shop's uploader, a game or app that reads PNG assets and nothing else. PIXLFLW decodes the JPG and writes a PNG in your browser, at full resolution, without an account or an upload.
What this conversion does and does not do
It does not improve the picture. JPG compression already discarded detail when the file was first saved, and no converter can work out what used to be there — the PNG is a faithful copy of the JPG as it is now, blocking artifacts included. What it does give you is a format that will not lose anything further: edit and re-save a PNG as often as you like and it stays identical, while every JPG save costs a little more.
