What makes this size different

The Philippines uses the 2 × 2 inch (51 × 51 mm) square, the same frame as a US passport photo, which is why one correctly cropped square file usually serves both.

Crop, do not stretch

The single most common mistake is forcing a rectangular phone photo into the document box, which widens or narrows the face until an official checker rejects it. Cropping cuts a correctly shaped piece out of the photo instead, and the locked ratio here makes any other outcome impossible. Leave a little space above the head, keep the eyes in the upper half of the frame and the head roughly centred left to right.

Printing and dpi

600 × 600 px is 2 × 2 inch at 300 dpi, the resolution photo labs print at. A file with those pixel dimensions prints at the correct physical size without any scaling, and it is also what an online form means when it asks for a passport size photo as a JPG.

It is a starting point, not a verdict: the frame can be dragged and zoomed, and the panel shows the head height it achieved so you can judge it. If no face is found — a scan, an unusual pose, a picture with no person in it — you get a plain message and a manual cropper locked to the same 2 × 2 inch shape.
